TECHNOLOGY

• Societys culture consists of physical objects and rules for using those objects
• Sociologist refered to this combination of objects and rules as technology
• Using material and nonmaterial culture
• Ex: understanding how things work and ability to surf and access the internet

SYMBOLS

• Commonly used
• Because of symbols we create our culture and communicate
• Anything that represents something
• words, image, and physical objects can serve as a symbol if recognized
• Ex: word(hello) and gesture(handshake)

LANGUAGE

• Most know and used in cultures
• Its very important in our daily lives
• Used to express ideas
• Used in many different situations
• Ex: magazines, radio, and television

VALUES

• Shared beliefs of whats good and bad, what you like and dislike.
• Values help determine peoples character and objects they create.
• Every group has their own values.

NORMS

• Enforce cultural values.
• Shared rules of conduct that tell poeple how to react in situations.
• Are expectations for behaviors.
