Cities and their historical periods

  • Florence (Italy) - Renaissance

  • Wittenberg (Germany) - Reformation
  • Rome (Italy) - Counterreformation

This is a picture of the statue of David, created by Michelangelo. This statue is located in Florence. Because of how the statue of the hero represented, it became a symbol of the defense of civil liberties in Florence.

This is the Church of Santa Engrácia, which holds the Cenotaph of Vasco da Gama. Vasco da Gama was a the first explorer to reach India by sea by sailing around Africa and then sailing to India. Church of Santa Engrácia is also known to hold other famous Portuguese icons.

This is the door to the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg, where Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses onto the church door. This place is important because it was where the Protestant Reformation officially started.

This is a picture of the Vatican City. The Vatican City is home to the Pope, who is the leader of the Catholic Church worldwide. The Counter-Reformation was present in rome duing Pope Paul III rule.
