The Road to Calvary

• Forced to carry his own cross - crossbar that usually weighed 80 - 110 lbs
• Walked approx. 600 - 800 yards or close to half a mile (no exact known route)
• Beaten, berated, mocked, etc. before he left and during his rout to Golgotha
• Collapsed under the weight of the cross and from previous injuries

Road to Calvary = Road of Suffering, Endurance, and Sacrifice!

Jesus

• True example of endurance and sacrifice
• Hebrews 12:2 "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."

Jesus' Sacrifice

• Supreme sacrifice was an exhibition of love
• John 15:13 "Great love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends."
• John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son..

Jesus shed...

• Blood
• Sweat
• Tears
• All of these were shed along his route to Golgotha.

Sacrifice

• Break out of the normal pathway we walk
• Step out of our comfort zone
