Haiti: According to its constitution and written laws, Haiti meets most international human rights standards. In practice, many provisions are not respected. The governent’s human rights record is poor. Political killings, kidnapping, torture, and unlawful incarceration are common unofficial practices, especially during periods of coups or attempts coups.
Iraq: Human rights in pre-Saddam Iraq were often lacking to various degrees among the various regimes that rule the country. Human rights abuses in the country predated the rule of Saddam Hussein
Ukraine: Human rights in Ukraine were better than those in most former Soviet republics as of 2009 and Ukraine was labeled as “Free” by orginizations such as Freedom house. However, after Viktor Yanukovych became president of Ukraine in 2010, Freedom House labeled Ukraine “Partly Free” in 2011, 2012, 2013. On May 21st, 2015 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a resolution declaring the suspension of convention for Human Rights in the Eastern Donbass region.
