Our Story

If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?

When I was growing up my dad was an alcoholic. I was around 5 and at this point I just had a brother. My mom was working and finally had saved enough money to be self sufficient. When dad arrived that night mom told him to either get cleaned up or she was gone. He went and got clean and that changed the trajectory of our lives.

My Vision: Make the NBA

I wanted to be like my dad and be a basketball player. Dad played at Miami. So right before I went into high school dad introduced me to a former professional basketball player. So in high school I pursued basketball whole heartedly with a dream of making the NBA. As good as basketball is, I made it my ultimate.

When I got to JBU I was approached by a man and who asked me a question: "On a scale of 0-100% how sure are you that you would go to heaven if you died?" I answered that questions: 100% because I am a good guy. We sat down the next week and he shared the bridge illustration. This man shared a verse with this that unlocked the Bible for me, Matthew 5:27-28. I realized just what the verse said: For the wages of sin is death. The weight of this made me realize that if I were to die today I would be separated from God because I am a sinner. Once I realized this then I realized why the gospel was so important.

If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?

Jesus said, The Harvest is plentiful and the workers are few, therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send forth workers!

A Vision for Multiplication

Jesus’ last words to his followers were, “Go and make disciples of all nations.” After seeing this kind of impact on the college campus we began to ask this question, “How is the church doing in following Jesus last words?” For the next seven years I gave myself to making disciples in the local church. We had the privileges seeing many students come to know Christ and lives were changed. God was stirring our hearts for a vision of reaching the world with the gospel. That vision came our way through Church planting, the way God created us we sensed God’s leading and direction. Now we are embarking on a journey to plant a church that lives on mission by making disciples and planting 100 other churches.

Why Make disciples: "Because we want to reach every man, woman and child in the greater Houston area.”

This last summer Samyia came to one of our events. She was born in NEW YORK. She got plugged into our church this last year and went off to camp and then became a believer.

Because we had faithful givers to RCC-The future of her family will be changed.

• C. Peter Wagner says, “Planting new churches is the most effective evangelistic methodology known under heaven.”

I have heard people say, “We have plenty of churches. There are churches all over the place that sit empty, why start new ones? We don’t need more churches but better ones.” Can you imagine making such a statement about people? “We have plenty of people. We don’t need more people, just better ones. Why have more babies?” This is short-range thinking. No matter how inflated you think the world population is, we are only one generation away from extinction if we do not have babies. . . . Imagine the headlines if suddenly it was discovered that 96% of the women in America were no longer fertile and could not have babies. We would instantly know two things: this is not natural so there is something wrong with their health. We would also know that our future is in serious jeopardy.
