CLAIM STATEMENT

  • Forts where very beneficial to the defence of cities amd supplies

TRENCHES

  • A type of defence that was dug out in the ground
  • Was very easy to build and cost effective
  • Defended well against canons and rifle shots cause of the dirt
  • Compared to stone forts they soaked more shots

STONE FORTS

  • Built like traditional castles
  • Where usually built near water ways or cities
  • Heavily fortified with canons and guns
  • Thick walls to with stand seiges but was brittle

WASHINGTON CAPITAL

  • Had 68 forts
  • 20 miles of trenches
  • 30 miles of military roads with 4 picket stations
