GERNAL DOUGLAS MAC ARTHUR

  • July 26,1941to September 2, 1945
  • Mac Arthur was An American General who commanded the southwest pacific.

JAPANESE ATTACKED PEARL HARBOR

  • December 7, 1941
  • The attack lasted for two hours, but the Japanese were able to do lots of damage.
  • 20 navel vessels were hit, 8 battle ships were destroyed and 200 airplanes.

BATTLE OF CORAL SEA

  • May 1942
  • It was the first air-navel battle in history. The United States broke the Japanese codes for war tried went to incept the battle.

MIDWAY BATTLE

  • June 7, 1942
  • This battle was six months after Pearl Harbor. Japanese wanted to destroy what they did not get a chance to at Pearl Harbor.

BATTLE OF GUADALCANAL

  • August 7, 1942 to February 9, 1943
  • The us marines launched a surprised attack.
  • They took control of an air bases. Both sides endured losses

AMERICANA TAKE IWO JIMA AND OKINAWA

  • February- March, 1945 and April- June, 1945
  • Iwo Jima was invaded first. America came to Japan with three marine divisions
  • Okinawa was the bloodiest battle of the pacific.

HARRY TRUMAN BECOMES PRESIDENT

  • April 12, 1945
  • He served in worldwide 1. He started in politics in 1922, was a judge, then senate.
