MT. SAINT HELENS BIG BLAST 1980
Mt. Saint Helens erupted May 18, 1980. It started with an earthquake at 8:32 a.m.
For 7 weeks scientist had been watching a growing bulge on the North flank of the mountain. There was an avalanche on the mountain with a bunch of dirt, ash and dirty snow coming down fast.
There was one man who was 84 years old and he refused to evacuate his lodge when everyone else evacuated their homes. His name was was Harry Truman.
"Vancouver, Vancouver this is it", those were David Johnstons last words of his life.
Mount Saint Helens didn't have much lava when it erupted. It was mostly ash and dirty snow.
