Earth Day April 22, 1970 Culture:
I live in Wisconsin where my U.S. senator came up with the idea of Earth Day. After seeing the student anti-war movement he decided to enforce on how we should worry about air and water pollution. Today my famly and friends went to the park to demonstrate healthy habits. I think this is a great way to prevent the world from going bad. When will we start re-using paper and other items?

Kent State May 4, 1970 Politics:
Today the National Guard fired into a crowd of Kent State University members. They killed 4 people including my sister. My friends and I all went on a student strike and forced hundreds of colleges to close. The National Guard came because of the American involvement in the vietnam war. I think they took the situation too far. Why did they have to be so violent and kill innocent people?

Fads and Fashion June 8, 1970 Culture:
Tight jeans were taking over flared out jeans. Last decades fashions are changing now. More women are wanting to be more sexy so they wear tighter jeans. I think tight jeans are better than flared jeans. Now its hard for my sister to find flared out jeans becuase they are going out of style. When will a new trend of hairstyles start?

Terrorist Act August 24, 1970 Terrorism:
I work at the Sterling Hall in Madison, Wisconsin. Today the Army Mathmatics Research Center was targeted becuase they were involved in the Vietnam War. They killed my favorite physics researcher and injured 3 others. I think that the incident is tragic and I give my condolences to the families. How did they find out about the involvement?

My mom took me to see the movie The Aristocats today. It was about a lady dying and leaving her inheritance to her cats. The butler drugged them and abandoned them. I think it was really cute and funny, yet sad. How could he be so mean?

Nixon Tapes Febuary 13, 1971Politics:
My president Richard Nixon has secretly recorded 3,700 hours of his phone calls and his meetings. I think this was a great idea for someone who is suspicious of the people around him. Did anyone tell or force him to do this?

Nixon Visits China Febuary 21, 1972 Cold War:
Today my president Richard Nixon visited the Republic of China. This was the first time in 25 years that we visited them. Because of the visit they are now on our side against the Soviet Union. I think that unexpected things like that happen to keep us all together. Nixon changed how things wouldve been. Why havent we visited China for 25 years?

ERA March 3, 1972 Civil Rights:
Today the ratification of the amendment was known to be the only way to stop gender based discrimination. The ERA is saying that " Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged by the U.S. or by any state on account of sex" I think this is very important to be illegalized because it's not fair. Why did this law take so long to be made?

There was a break in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters and my boss Nixon tried to cover up his involvement. The scandal helped recover the abusive power of him. It resulted in the indictment of 69 people and 48 found guilty. I think Nixon is very sneaky and deserves to be discover for his wrong doing. Why did he think he was going to get away with it?

Why domt people understand that sometimes an abortion is for the good of the mother.

Opec Oil October 17 1973 Civil Rights:
U.S. decided to re-supply the israeli military and to gain an advantage in the post-war peace negotiations. The Opec imposed an embargo against the U.S and it made us go short on oil. We were so dependent on foriegn oil. My husband and I had waited in long lines to get gas because most places ran out. I think the U.S. should try and get back on good terms with OPEC. When will we find another source of oil?

Endangered Species Act December 28, 1973 Act:
Today I went through the Federal law and state to get this act approved. The act provided the conservation of ecosystems that threatened and endangered species of fish, wildlife, and plants. Because of the act I can prohibit unauthorized possession and sale of the species. I think that this law is very important because we dont want any species of low numbers to start dying off. Why dont we ban hunnting animals too?

Nixon Resignation August 9, 1974 Politics:
Today my boss Nixon resigned as the 37th president of the United States. After two years of being involved in bad things and trying to cover it up he realized what he had to do. I think that his two years had ups and downs and that him resigning was for the best. Who will be the next president?

Ford Pardon September 8 1974 Politics:
Today I, president Gerald Ford, pardon Nixon for his involvement in the Watergate Scandal. I have no legal proof stating that he didnt, but I wanted the whole thing to be behind us. A long trial wouldve made it worse than it already was for the public. I think everyone should just forget about it and move on. Why dont we just make sure that the next president doesnt try and do the same thing?
