GREASERS Greasers were a youth subculture in the 1950s, they listened to rock and roll music and were first know as the "hoods". The name greaser came from their hairstyle, slicked back hair. It later became popular in later decades as part of a revival of 1950s pop culture.
Why teenagers would want to join a gang Normally they would get more respect if they were in a gang than not in one. Gang members commit crimes, and their power grows. They get respect not only for themselves, but for their kids, family and friends.
