In the 1950s greasers originated, it was a group of teenagers in the northeastern and southern United States creating a youth subculture inspired by rock and roll music (Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando, James Dean, etc). The name "greasers" were influenced by the greased-back hairstyle! There were similar subcultures in other parts of the world even though it started in North America. The British rockers were bikers only unlike the greasers who liked hot rod cars, kustoms, and vans but they both liked Doo Wop, Rock and Roll, and rockabilly music. They wore t-shirts, denim or leather jackets, black or blue jeans with rolled cuffs, and accessories were bandanas, leather gloves, fedoras, etc. Greasers weren't usually from the upper class but mostly from the working class or the "hood."
