• Two of the most important leaders of the Rising, Thomas Clarke and Seán McDermott planned for a rebellion which they kept to themselves.

SCUTTLED BY THE BRITS

• Sir Roger Casement from Antrim, travelled to Germany for a shipment of guns for the rebellion,The Royal Navy captured the ship off the coast of County Kerry and were later scuttled (blown up).

WE MARCH FOR WAR

• On Easter Monday 1916, a group of men marched from Liberty Hall to the GPO, an organisation called Cumann Na mBan also marched

THE GPO IS OURS

• As soon as they reached the GPO, the rebels push the building having to British soldiers as hostages. Then they removed the British flag from the flagpole and put the Tricolor flag made from green, white and orange. Pádraig Pearse a member of the IRB, stood on the pavement of the GPO and read out the Irish Proclamation out of the Irish Republic.
• The Easter Rising begun
