Technological: the Model T is the 1st car made in 1908. Because of this, traveling became easier and cheaper.

Cultural: 18th amendment bans the sale and use of alcohol. This amendment is created for a better America. - 1919

Political: 19th amendment gives women the right to vote. Women could hold office for the 1st time. -1920

Economic: San Francisco Earthquake in 1906 took 700 lives, caused $4,000,000 in damage, and left 300,000 people homeless.

WWI begins in 1914 and we join in 1917. The US army has a total of 320,710 casualties.

1919:Red Scare was the fear of communism rising in America. Innocent people were jailed for expressing their views, civil liberties were ignored, & many citizens feared that Russian revolution could be fate.

Upton Sinclair wrote the eye-opening book, The Jungle, to show how bad working conditions were and what went on behind the scenes in places like meat-packing industries. We now have things like the FDA who makes sure food is safe.

Teddy Roosevelt did many things for the US and the world. Some of these things include: the Panama Canal, created the postal stamp, created the FDA, and was the 1st American to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
