Matter

14 IDEAS PRESENTATION By Oliver P. J.

What is Matter?

Matter is what makes up everything

Solids : The Atoms and Molecules in a solid

  • The Atoms & Molecules are very attracted.
  • They vibrate but do not move past each other.
  • They also have a definite volume and shape

This is a representation of the atoms and molecules in a solid

LIQUIDS : THE ATOMS AND MOLECULES OF A liquid

  • The Atoms & Molecules of a liquid are attracted.
  • They vibrate but can move past each other
  • They have a definite volume, but not shape

This is a representation of the Atoms & Molecules in a liquid

Gases : The Atoms and Molecules in gases

  • The Atoms & Molecules in gases are barely attracted
  • They vibrate and move freely past each other
  • They have no definite shape or volume

Here is a representation of the Atoms and Molecules in gases

When you add heat, Molecules & Atoms move faster and get farther apart

When you remove heat, Atoms and Molecules move slower and get closer together
