The Dutch found New York and settled there to set up a fur trading post.The British wanted the land so that we could move westward.The British captured the land by 1664.The King gave the land to his brother,the Duke of New York.

The Geography and Climate of New York in the 1700
In the 1700s the climate was very harsh.We had long harsh Winters and short mild Summers.The Summers were short so we could not grow many crops which led us to food shortage.In the Winter the people had no food because they can't grow crops.The geography of New York is we have thin rocky soil and many thick forests.
