NEW ENGLAND GOVERNMENT

  • The New England Colonies elected their own legislature, they were democratic, they had a governor, a governor's court, and a court system. The government systems used by the Colonies were Royal of Charter. (Royal of Charter means they were self governed and their charters were granted to the colonists.)

NEW ENGLAND CLIMATE

  • The Colonists in the New England colonies had freezing cold winters and mildly hot summers. Their land was flat close to the coastline but it was mountainous farther inland. The soil was rocky, so their farming was difficult. Their Cold winters helped to prevent the spread of disease.

MY CITIES FOR THE MIDDLE COLONIES

  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, William Penn founded the Middle Colony, Pennsylvania, in 1681. He founded it so it could be a religious haven for Catholics.
  • Newark, New Jersey, was founded in 1664 by the Duke of York. It was the first European settlement.

MIDDLE COLONIES ECONOMY

  • The Middle Colonies Colonists exported agriculture products and natural resources.
  • Bigger cities like Philadelphia and New York were huge shipping places to import and export goods.
  • Workers like blacksmiths, silversmiths, cobblers, wheelwrights, and more also contributed to the economy.

MIDDLE COLONIES RELIGION

  • There was not just one single religion in the Middle Colonies.
  • But there were many practiced because everyone had a different religion. Some of them include, Quakers, Catholics, Jews, Lutherans, and Presbyterians.

MY CITIES FOR THE SOUTHERN COLONIES

REASONS TO LEAVE A COUNTRY LIKE ENGLAND

  • There are a few reasons why the people of England may want to leave and make a new colony. First, some people may leave England because they want religious freedom. Second, they also may want to leave because they want to make more money. Next, they may want to leave so they can have more freedom. Additionally, sometimes the English people just wanted a colony to themselves. Finally, they may have wanted a new life because they got in trouble in England and wanted to move past it.

THE BEST CITY BASED ON MY TRADE

  • I am an Apothecary (I help the sick and injured). I think Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is the city that will best suit my needs because it is the largest of all the other cities I chose to tour. Therefore it has the biggest population, so there are more opportunities to help people with disease and injury. This tour helped me make this decision about what city will be the best for my trade because the more patients, the more money I will make and greater chance to help others. At this time, my trade is referred to a doctor or nurse.
