The History of New Hampshire

History

  • In 1623 under an English land grant captain John Smith sent settlers out to establish fishing colonies .
  • In 1679 after a 38 year union with Massachusetts New Hampshire was made a royal colony
  • New Hampshire was the first to vote on the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776
  • In spring of 1623 they sent two small parties of emigrants to settle.
  • Also in 1692 a seperate was again effected ,and royal government reeve stablished.

Geography

  • The nickname for New Hampshire is Granite State
  • Origin name - from the English county of New Hampshire
  • The capital - concord

  • Continental ice sheets once covered the entire state
  • Scrapping the mountains and rerouting water courses
  • Into beautiful white mountains in lakes and steams
