Nomadic Society and its Effect on Trade

The Nomadic Society was made up of two social classes: the nobles and the commoners. The nobles did not govern very well, leaving the commoners to govern their own tribes. The nomads sought trade with other settled tribes and participated in long distance trade.

Turkish Military Expansion

Nomadic leaders organized vast alliances of all people to a Khan. The Khans didn’t rule directly, but through leaders of allied tribes. Nomads had massive military power because of outstanding cavalry forces/superior skills/organization.
Turkish nomads began in the tenth century to seize settler societies and build imperial states in the regions surrounding central Asia

Genghis Khan

Khan made an alliance with a Mongol Clan leader. He showed courage and military skill when in battle. He got rid of unneeded people who did not do what he wanted them to do. He brought all of the Mongol Tribes into one single Government, united them.

Mongols - Political Organization
