TERRITORY AND YEAR ACQUIRED

  • In the year 1803 the U.S bought 828,000 square miles of land from
  • the French. This land spread across the United States from north to south covering almost 14 whole
  • States including Oklahoma and parts of Colorado.

WHO IT WAS ACQUIRED FORM

  • They got the Louisiana purchase from the French for $15 million that
  • Equals about 4 cents an acre today

  • Signed by Robert Livingston, James Monroe, and Barbe Marbois
  • Jefforson announced the treaty to americans on july 4

overall impact of acquisition

  • the main impact of the purchase was that it doubled the size of the
  • United States and the continent got closer to their goal towards its westward
