PILGRIMS
A pilgrim is a person who goes on a long journey often with a religious or moral purpose and especially to a foreign land.
'Pilgrim' became the popular term applied to all the Mayflower passengers.
It took 64 days for the pilgrim ship Mayflower to cross the Atlantic.
Many Pilgrims died the first year because they ran out of food and got sick.
Indians introduced themselves to the Pilgrims and taught them how to use fish to fertilize corn and how to get sap from maple trees.

WAMPONOAG TRIBE
The meaning of the name Wampanoag (WAMP-AH-NOG) is "Easterners"
The Wampanoag Indians were original natives of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The Wampanoag tribe has its own reservation on Martha's Vineyard.
The Wampanoag didn't live in tepees, they lived in villages of small round houses called wigwams.
Wampanoag men were hunters and sometimes went to war to protect their families.

THE FIRST THANKSGIVING
The Plymouth Pilgrims were the first to celebrate Thanksgiving.
The very first Thanksgiving celebration lasted 3 days.
The pilgrims didn't use forks, they ate with spoons, knives, and their fingers.
The Pilgrim leader, Governor William Bradford had organized the first Thanksgiving feast in 1621.
They ate things like lobster, rabbit chicken, fish, squashes, beans eggs, and goat cheese.

MY FAMILY THANKSGIVING
My family always gather at my great grandfather house every year.
My family always fry a turkey and cook a hog.
My great grandfather always give away 20 cooked hams to the Sumter County Nursing Home.
I'm so thankful for my mother and all that she do for me.
I'm also thankful for life everyday that I wake up.
