Hi I'm Julia Maas a fifth grader at pkyonge and I will be presenting for you today!

An explorer is a person who goes on an expedition and discovers something important.
The way I created this definition is I looked through many explorers and read a biography about their life. As a result, I came up with this definition! All the girls and boys I read about did something wonderful and discovered important information about our world and beyond. But, Erikson really stood out!

I decided to research Lief ericson because he was the first European to step foot onto North America! More than 500 years before Christopher Columbus! Can you believe that people have been believing that myth! The reason nobody knew Ericson found North America before Christopher Columbus is once he discovered North America no other Vikings followed him. Ericson grew up in Iceland and moved to Greenland once he got older. Since Ericson was a Viking he followed the traditions of his kind. As a result, he didn't live with his family until he was older. This picture is a statue of Leif erikson in front of St.paul Minnesota's capital. Erikson landed around Vinland when he got off course trying to go back to Iceland. This mistake turned into the best thing that has happened in his life!

Lief erickon fits my definition because he went on an expedition to find North America, and he is successful.

1. Studying explorers is important because I need to know how our country was discovered. Also, you can learn important lessons from the explorers.

2. A way going to middle school is like an explorer is, I will discover new information that I didn't know before. For example,

One thing I learned about myself is during these 3 weeks is, I like to wait till the last minute.
One thing I would do differently next time is, try to finish before i barely have any more time to memorize.
