THE LAST SUVIVORS

  • Tuatara belong to an ancient group of reptiles called sphenodontia.
  • All the other species in this group are extinct.
  • Tuatara look a lot like there ancestors did two since the time of the dinosaurs.

PRECIOUS EGGS

  • X-rayed to check her eggs
  • Dug a burrow in the ground and laid her eggs
  • The eggs where oval, white, and leathery
  • Honey left them alone to hatch
  • After 184 days (about six months) the eggs began to hatch

WAITING FOR EGGS TO HATCH

  • They put them in a special box to keep them warm
  • They cheek them every week
  • Tuatara use a special egg tooth on the tips of there nose

CARING FOR BABY TUATARAS

  • They need to keep warm
  • When they are six months they move out side
  • They sleep under the heat lamp
  • Honey might eat her eggs
