The importance of Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics is an extremely important science. It is the study of forces and the resulting motion of objects through the air. Its essentially the way air moves around things. The rules of aerodynamics explain how an airplane is able to fly. Anything that moves through air reacts to aerodynamics.

The Four forces of flight

The four forces of flight are lift, weight, thrust and drag. These forces make an object move up and down, and faster or slower. How much of each force there is changes how the object moves through the air.

NASA works to make airplanes and other aircraft better.

Aerodynamics is an important part of NASA's work. The first A in NASA stands for aeronautics, which is the science of flight.

Motor Vehicles

Aerodynamics is used to design motor vehicles. Cars are not stable at any great speed and burn a lot more fuel if they aren’t well designed aerodynamically.

architectural design

Architects also have to use aerodynamics now to design buildings. Very large buildings and skyscrapers actually have such a large area exposed to wind that they have to be carefully designed to flex appropriately to stop them from fracturing in high winds.

Large vessels

Aerodynamics is also used to design the upper parts of large ships. Some large vessels have so much superstructure above the water that they have to be designed carefully or the ship could rock badly in high winds or even become unstable.

Aerodynamics Importance

Aerodynamics is a very important science. It is used to make motor vehicles, vessels, and buildings stable. It saves on fuel and structure cost, it makes our streets safer around large skyscrapers, and its also what makes our commercial travels a lot safer.
