Iemanja - Goddess of the Sea

Iemanjá (Yemanjá, Jemanjá) is an African deity (female orixá) mainly celebrated yearly by Candomblé and Umbanda religions in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, and other South American countries. Known as the Goddess or Queen of the Ocean, she is the patron spirit of the fishermen and the survivors of shipwrecks, the feminine principle of creation and the spirit of moonlight.
