Phase I

Student created bracket of "32."

First Task - Design

  • Given 18 in x 24 in paper.
  • Design a four team bracket.
  • Bracket must have equivalent horizontal lines & equivalent distance between rounds.
  • Vertical spacing must create an aesthetic bracket
  • Do not measure/worry about diagonal lines

Class Collaboration

Debate/decide on aesthetic measurements.

Second Task - Create

Create a 4 team bracket w/ class measurement

Third Task - Assemble

Did we meet our equivalency goals?

Phase II

Apply prior knowledge of probability,ratios,percents.

Forth Task - Apply

  • Assuming all options had an equal chance to win, what is the percent chance of winning one game? 5 games? the tourney?
  • What is the percent chance of playing a perfect tourney (25 wins in a row)?

  • If we rolled a dice labeled R, P, S instead of students throwing the symbols, how would this change our data? Would it "level the playing field?" Why or why not?

2) Rock beats Scissor
3)Scissor beats Paper

4) All players will chant, "Rock, paper, scissor, shoot," showing their symbol simultaneously with the word "shoot."

5) When one player reaches 5 "wins," they advance to the next round. All stats must be recorded on an official bout sheet.

OPTIONAL:
Once the quarter finals are reached, create 8 teams. Each remaining competitor is the captain. Hand out their opponents bout sheets and allow them 10-15 mins to study their tendencies.
