Whale Sanctuary of El Vizcaino

  • The Whale Sanctury is home to various marine life, and it was a extremely important reproduction site for grey whales.
  • It is located in the central part of the peninsula of Baja California, in Mexico.
  • Besides the site's diverse wildlife and landscape it is the most important breeding ground for the grey whales. Which used to be a near extinct species.

Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve

  • This is where millions and maybe billions of monarch butterflys cluster in small areas around the forest reserve.
  • It is located about 100km northwest of Mexico City, in forest covered mountains.
  • It protects a important overwintering site for the butterflys. Its also stunning/beautiful to witness.

Tower of Hercules

  • It is a landmark and lighthouse for the entrance of La Coruña harbor since the late 1st century A.D.
  • The site is located in north-western Spain.
  • It is the only lighthouse from Roman time to retain any structural integrity and functionality. The lighthouse also has multiple legends that surround it.

Ancient Maya City and Protected Tropical Forests of Calakmul, Campeche

  • The remains of the important city Calakmul, which can be found deep within the tropical rainforest.
  • The site can be found in the central/southern portion of Yucatán peninsula, in Mexico.
  • The city played a key role in that regions history. It is also well preserved structually for that civilization, and the site is also in a very biodiverse area.

Roman Walls of Lugo

  • Ancient Roman fortifications
  • The site is located in the Province Lugo, in Spain.
  • This wall is the finest example of Roman fortification in western Europe.
