Relevancy

  • Instead of thinking “What am I going to use this for in real life”, think “How is this making me a better learner?”
  • This attitude is not represented through grades but rather hardwork

Boredom

  • Do not blame others for your boredom
  • You can control boredom by being aware of your thoughts and slowing them down if necessary
  • Boredom carries one from one stage of life to the next
  • It’s best to fake like you’re engaged in order to be productive, and it might benefit your attitude towards that class.

Procrastination

  • “Putting off something that is unpleasant or burdensome”
  • This leads to bad consequences that are worse than just getting the work done in the first place
  • To prevent procrastination just start doing the action and you will likely finish it.

Listening

  • An ineffective type of listening is when you’re thinking about your life when you’re supposed to be listening which leads to loss of information.
  • Judgemental listening also causes a loss of information because you are to busy thinking about the relevance of a topic.
  • Distracted listening happens to everybody but you should just be able to acknowledge something and then get back on task
  • Processing listening is helpful in retaining information but still being a little distracted
  • The Zone listening is when you aren’t distracted by anything and always keep focused on the topic at hand
