EARTH PROJECT

BY KEVIN DORAN HR1

CRUST

  • The crust is 3-5 miles thick.
  • The crusts temperature is about 1600 degrees faranheight.
  • The depth of the crust is 0 because we live on the crust.
  • The crust is a solid.
  • Less then 1% of the crust takes up the earth. Humans have been here because we live on the crust.

MANTLE

  • The mantle is 1800 miles thick.
  • The temperature is 1600 to 4000 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • The mantle is 5 miles below the crust.
  • The mantle is mostly a solid but sometimes it can act like a liquid.
  • The mantle takes up about 84% of the earth. People have never been to the mantle because we lack the technology.

OUTER CORE

  • The outer core is 1400 miles thick.
  • The temperature ranges from 4000 degrees to 9000 degrees farenheight.
  • The outer core is 10 miles deep.
  • The outer core Is a liquid.
  • The outer core takes up 15% of the earth. No humans haven't been here because the heat would vaporize you.

INNER CORE

  • The inner core is 800 miles thick.
  • The temperature is 9000 degrees farenheight.
  • It's 4000 miles deep
  • It's state of matter from research is a solid.
  • The inner core takes the same volume as the outer. No humans can go to the core for one it's to deep and it's heat would kill someone instantly.

ASTHENOSPHERE

  • The thickness depends on the temperature of the lithosphere.
  • It can go as deep as 430 miles.
  • It's temperature is around 1600c
  • It is a solid.
  • It takes up 1% of the earth people have been here.

LITHOSPHERE

  • It's thickness is 40-200km.
  • It is as deep as the mantle.
  • It's temperature is 1000c
  • It's a solid.
  • It takes up as much as the crust no person has been here.
