  • He has a BA from Harvard
  • Married Eleanor in 1905
  • Elected state senate in 1912
  • Became president in 1932

GREAT DEPRESSION

  • Began less than one year after becoming president
  • Worked with congress to pass recovery legislation
  • Set up alphabet agencies
  • Works projects administration provided more jobs

WORLD WAR TWO

  • The US was neutral at the beginning of the war
  • The lend lease bill was passed in 1941
  • Germany and Italy declared war on the US
  • The US tried to form an alliance

WWII cont.

  • The US and there allies invaded Northern Africa in 1942
  • Europe had then officially won the war

FDR'S ROLE IN WWII

  • He tried to restore confidence
  • Spoke to public over radio broadcasts
  • Reformed federal government
