Who?

  • Dmitri Mendeleeve
  • He was a Russian Chemist.

When and Where he worked

  • He went to Heidelberg to start a lab in 1860
  • Returned to St. Petersburg in 186

WHEN AND WHERE CONT.

  • Became a professor of chemistry in the technological institute in St. Petersburg in 1863.

When and Where cont.

  • In 1893, he was appointed director of the bureau of weights in measure, where he worked until he died.

WHat he discovered

  • He made the periodic table
  • In 1860 Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff discovered the element Cesium (Cs)

HOW HE DISCOVERED IT

  • They used chemical spectroscopy to find Cesium

Why it is important to the atom

  • In 1860 he went to the first international chemistry conference
  • He learned that "All gases" at the same volume, temperature, and pressure, contained the same number of molecules
