It started on October 14th 1962 when the US found out that the Soviet Union was hiding nuclear missiles in Cuban so the US quickly set up a blockade

There were a lot of attempts of trying to get them to move their missiles and there was almost nuclear war but out president at the time was John F. Kennedy, he made a proposal that the soviet leader accepted and he moved their missiles out

The United States promised not to invade Cuba and to move missiles of our own out of Turkey. Thus ended the closest nuclear confrontation in history.
