Concussion Symptoms

By: Hunter Adams

Headaches

  • The first and most common is an instant headache
  • A headache can be caused by many things but is a common symptom
  • Headaches would appear immediately after impact

Knockouts

  • A more obvious symptom is being knocked unconscious
  • These hits are brutal head to head hits with the crown of the helmet

Nausea

  • Another symptom is nausea
  • Which may also be followed by vomiting

Reactions

  • There may be a slow reaction to questions
  • Which can go along with being dazed
  • Or slurred/slow speech responses

Light

  • Light sensitivity is another major "red flag"
  • This may be revealed either at the doctors or after the hit
  • It is good to stay in a dark room during recovery
  • This can be proved by pupil desolation

Memory

  • Memory loss is a long term side effect
  • The short term side effect is known as amnesia
  • This can effect mostly retired NFL players
