Quote 1 pg 6
Now Kit was dead. It was a blasphemy in the morning, a blight upon the land. How could the river still sparkle in the background? The birds still sing? The sun still shine? Didn't something have to stop? In honor of this abundance of life taken so senselessly?
Quote 2 pg 12
"But we women have the advantage, because we have it in our power to subdue the men without violence. We have more power in our tears than in our arguments. Remember that."
Journal Entry
I am so sad about the death of Kit. I am also angry at the British soldiers for such a ruthless killing. It feels like we are all helpless in this war. My father is in prison for wanting to protect our freedom while Johnny is fighting to keep us under British rule. To make matters worse, my mother and sister and I are prisoners in our own home. I wish things could return to normal!
Response
I can understand why Caroline is angry over the events that have taken place. She witnessed the hanging of her best friend for no good reason. It is also hard to understand how life can go on like normal when something so terrible has happened. I would feel the same way.
