BLEEDING KANSAS

WHAT WAS IT?

  • It was a border war between anti-slavery states and border ruffians
  • It took place in the Kansas territory and neighboring towns of Missouri
  • Happened between 1854 and 1861
  • Main reason is whether or not Kansas enters the union free or slave
  • It got the name Bleeding Kansas because it was a bloody war
