LEADER: Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.

ALL: And you shall renew the face of the earth.

LEADER: Let us pray. O God, who has taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation. Through Christ our Lord.

The Wise Son Loves His Family

TOPIC: Loving your family

VERSE: "A wise son gives his father joy, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother."

A 10-year old boy joining a contest was asked, "What made you join this contest?" The boy answered, trying to hold back tears, "Somy mother will come back, that our family may be whole again. I am doing thus because I love my family."

At the end of the 2-month contest, this same boy won the grand prize. When asked how it feels to win, he replied with tears streaming down his face. "I am vey happy! I thank God for my family." Behind him. sharing in his joy, was his family, his mother
present this time - visibly elated. I am quite certain that the prize did not have anything to do with with what the family was feeling at that victorious moment.

It was more a triumph of the family coming together through the efforts of that little boy, whose prayers and efforts God blessed with success. Truly, nothing can compensate for a happy, loving family, not fame, not power and in thus case, not the grand prize.

So let us not take our family for granted; let us love one another unconditionally; let us not give up on one another. Just like our Heavenly Father! There are those who go through whatever it takes just to keep their family together, a family looking out for one another. At the end of the day, it is the family that we all come home to, our shelter and refuge, our sanctuary. We praise and thank God for the blessing that is the family!
