PRESENTATION OUTLINE

YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO BE YOUR DREAM

Do wonder if you're too old to pursue your dream? For some reason we are conditioned to believe that as we grow older the likelihood of us branching out or trying things that we might have always wanted to becomes more limited.

What if that wasn't true?

DO YOU EVER THINK YOU'RE TO OLD TO FOLLOW A DREAM?

HE STARTED KFC AFTER RETIRING....
Although I'm sure there are many other famous examples (Col. Harlan Sanders comes to mind), my wife, Sheree, is a prime example of what it means to never stop looking for your calling.

My wife has dedicated her life to others

DAUGHTER, HUSBAND, FAMILY...ALWAYS DOING FOR EVERYONE ELSE
My wife has dedicated her life to others. For the majority of her adulthood she was a single mother who put her daughter's needs in front of her own. She was never able to do the things that she wanted to do for herself. Even after we were married, she stayed at home with our daughter to give her the focused attention she needed.

WITH OUR DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE

SHE COULD FINALLY REACH FOR WHAT SHE'S ALWAYS WANTED TO DO
Two years ago, Alex (our daughter) went to college. Sheree finally had the opportunity to go out and do for herself. After a great deal of searching and thinking, she decided to go back to school and become a personal trainer.

Even though it had been over 20 years since she had stepped foot in a classroom, she decided to dive in. To be quite honest, her willingness to step out into the great unknown was quite inspiring.

DREAM DELAYED

WHAT DO YOU DO TO REACH YOUR DREAM AFTER SOOO LONG?
So after much conversation and probably too many questions here is what I have learned about following your dream at any age.

FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO

WHAT IS IT THAT STIRS UP PASSION WITHIN YOU?
Take some time and really think about what it is you love to do. Not just something that you like, but something that you would do even if you weren't paid to do it.

When you have the chance to start over, you might as well do something that makes you smile. Whether it's cooking, fixing computers, or working out.

It should be something that stirs up passion within you.

GAIN MASTERY

FIND AVENUES TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR NEW CRAFT AND GAIN EXPERTISE.
Even though you may not be doing your passion for the money, it's important that you explore what possible way is you could earn a living doing it could be. This way, you'll be able to determine what kind of training might be available or opportunities to hone your skills in this area.

Remember, it may not be something that will make you a millionaire. Often times for "passion pursuits" like this it's not about the money in the beginning. But, it's important to know that there are avenues to learn about your new craft and to gain expertise.

TAKE THE CHANCE

DON'T HESITATE WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY ARISES
No one can make you pursue a passion and there are 1000 reasons why you shouldn't. For my wife, there was always some one else that she had to take care of.

For many of us there are the realities of life. Many times, it is not financially feasible to just follow a dream. But generally speaking, there will never be a perfect time. So when the opportunity to do something you've always wanted to comes up take it.

There's no way to prepare for that or to know exactly when it's going to occur. The only thing to do is to not hesitate when that moment arises.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

WHAT YOU DO MATTERS WHEN YOU SAY IT DOES.
My father used to say that what you do matters in the world only if you say it matters. So ask yourself, when will your dreams matter? When will the right time be to pursue that lifelong goal?

THIS IS THE ONLY PERSON YOU HAVE TO ANSWER TO

WHAT WILL YOU SAY TO THEM?
The only person that you really have to answer is the one that you look at in the mirror in the morning.

What will you say to them?
