PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WALT Be Safe Cyclists.

We will know we can do this when:

1.Know main road rules
2.Read and understand road signs
3.Identify and anticipate hazards
4.Wear a helmet correctly
5.Carry out a bike check correctly
6.Ride a bike safely and with control around a course (and on the road)
7.Know what clothing to wear.

KNOW MAIN ROAD RULES

  • You first need a helmet.
  • Make sure you have a suitable bike.
  • Read all of the signs that the cars have to follow.
  • Make sure you indicate with your arm before turning.
  • Always ride on the left side of the road.

READ AND UNDERSTAND ROAD SIGNS

  • Make sure you can read and know what the signs mean.
  • If you dont read the signs, you might crash
  • When riding on the road you have to do what the signs tell you.
  • The signs will help you to know where to go.
  • They show you the way.

IDENTIFY AND ANTICIPATE HAZARDS

  • Look out for these signs.
  • They tell you if you should go near them or not.
  • If it tells you not to go there don't.
  • They protect you.
  • They warn you

Wear a helmet correctly

  • Make sure your helmet fits you.
  • The buckle should click to make it safe.
  • Don't have the buckle undone
  • Get a helmet and put it on right
  • If you cant put on a helmet, ask for help

CARRY OUT A BIKE CHECK CORRECTLY

  • Make sure your bike is checked to make sure it is safe.
  • Have a check up at least ones a month.
  • Before doing a marathon, get your bike checked.
  • Wheels need to be pumped.
  • Make sure all of your gears and brakes work.

RIDE A BIKE SAFELY AND WITH CONTROL AROUND A COURSE AND ROAD.

  • Indicate where and witch way you are going
  • Always stay to your side of the road
  • Even though cars look out for you, you still have to look out for them
  • Even though you are on a bike doesn't mean you don't use the crossings
  • Look out for traffic

KNOW WHAT CLOTHING TO WEAR.

  • Wear comfortable pants that you can stretch in. Like
  • Biking pants
  • A good top like
  • A tight top or sports top
  • And wear good shoes.
