EXERCISE

RULE 1
Exercise boosts brain power.

Perform at least 30 min of aerobic exercise 2x per week for cognitive benefits.

SURVIVAL

RULE 2
The human brain evolved, too.

Our ability to learn has deep roots in relationships.
Build relationships with other students and teachers.

WIRING

RULE 3
Every brain is wired differently.

Seek out smaller class size (10-20) and study groups (3-4) to optimize learning opportunities.

ATTENTION

RULE 4
People don't pay attention to boring things. Use elaborate emotion to arouse attention.

Multitasking is a myth. You cannot pay attention to two things at once. Put away your phone and get off Facebook when in class or studying.

Look for patterns.
Study in 10-minute chunks with frequent, short breaks.

SENSORY INTEGRATION

RULE 9
Stimulate more of the senses.

Use smell to enhance recall.

VISION

RULE 10
Vision trumps all other senses.

Less text, more pictures.
Draw diagrams and illustrations to help explain the material. It's ok if they're ugly!

GENDER

RULE 11
Male and female brains are different.

Study with men and women to get both perspectives.

EXPLORE!

RULE 12
We are natural and powerful explorers.

Make connections to the world. Chat with professionals. Study research.
