ZULU KING

  • Cetshwayo kaMpande was the King of the Zulu Kingdom during the wars
  • Cetshwayo kaMpande refused to submit to the British.
  • He put up an army of forty thousand to sixty thousand men.
  • He made his brother, Dabulamanzi, the commander of the Zulu army.

CAUSE

  • The main cause: boarder disputes between the Zulu and the Boers.
  • a commission ruled in favor of the Zulu people in July 1878
  • Sir Henry Bartle Frere gave an ultimatum to the meeting.
  • The Zulu king didn't respond so Britain invade the Zulu kingdom.
  • The invasion was without the permission from the British Government.
