GENOCIDES: BOSNIA

  • Near the end of the Cold War, most of Russia and Europe
  • were undergoing democratization and communism was being altered.
  • The country of Bosnia was in the middle of this conflict and with their multi ethnic
  • republic, Bosnia refused democratization and unleashed full on warfare in
  • their country. This small war claimed about 100,000 lives.

CIVIL WARS: MEXICAN CESSION

  • Civil wars can cause major conflicts between nations, fighting for land
  • is one of those conflicts. In 1846, Mexico and the U.S fought for the western region
  • of the United States. In 1848, to avoid more casualties on both sides, the two
  • forces decided to sign a treaty to end the war. A boundary was created that
  • Separates the U.S and Mexico.

CONFLICTS OVER IDEAS: 16TH CENTURY CATHOLICS & PROTESTANTS

  • Catholics and Protestants both had similar beliefs in "God" such as the cross
  • and the birth of Jesus Christ. But both of them didn't agree on tradition like
  • the Catholics. Protestants believed in faith while Catholics believed in tradition. This disagreement lead to a
  • Great War about religion. Thousands of people died just because they believe in something completely
  • different. Even in the modern age, most of us disagree with other religions. Will unity ever exist in our world?
