PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Israel Palestinian conflict

In 1917, Britain issued the Balfour Declaration, viewed by Jews and Arabs as promising a “National Home” for the Jews in Palestine. In 1936, the first fighting began with the Arab Revolt led by Haj Amin Al-Husseini. Over 5,000 Arabs were killed according to some sources. Several hundred Jews were killed by Arabs. Husseini fled to Iraq and then to Nazi Germany.

Israel, more specifically Jerusalem, is considered holy land for both religions. They are fighting to claim what is "rightfully their's" which no one will win so the fighting will continue.

Key issues of Israel-Palestine Conflict would be: mutual recognition, borders, security, water rights, control of Jerusalem, Israeli settlement, Palestinian movement for freedom, and legalities concerning refugees. However, control of Jerusalem, water rights and international status are the three most important.
