Cancer Stole My Year

Published on Nov 21, 2015

My struggles with cancer in 2012

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Early 2012

I was diagnosed with 2 types of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

they were BOTH Stage 4

  • Within a week my PowerPort was installed
  • My chemo started 2 days after that
  • The first infusion of Rituxan led to seizures
  • As did the second attempt
  • And third...

I Survived My 1st chemo

But the cancer was still eating me alive
Pre-cancer weight was around 190 lbs. I dropped down to roughly 140 lbs during chemo.

Back-to-back

In May I was hospitalized twice

I hit a 106.1 degree fever,
blacked out, & was told about it later.

I had full blown hallucinations & became violently ill from the morphine.

They put me in the neutropenic ward. Several times I thought I was going to die.

Somehow I survived & celebrated my birthday in the hospital

I was ready for my final scan

After 6 rounds of grueling chemo & 3 hospitalizations

and prayed

As I waited for the PET scan to start, I stared at the ceiling

I've been in remission since August 1st, 2012

This is my story. Thanks for listening.
