  • The quality of having an independent authority over a geographic area or territory.

International Relations

  • An area of study/knowledge concerned with relations between different countries.

Balance of Power

  • A situation in which nations of the world have roughly equal power.
  • The power held by a small group when larger groups are of equal strength.

UNITED NATIONS

  • An international organization composed of most of the countries of the world.
  • It was founded in 1945 to promote peace, security, & economic development.

European Union

  • An economic & political union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
  • Created in 1993 with the aim of achieving closer economic & political union between member states
  • of the European Community.
