PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT

BY: ADAKU NGWU

WHY DID THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT START?

  • There is a belief that Israel was founded after WWII to pay the Jews for what was done to them by
  • the Germans during the war.
  • But this is incorrect.
  • British government support for a Jewish state in Palestine dates back to November 2, 1917

Why Has It Continued?

  • Israel is considered holy land for both religions.
  • The fighting is to claim what is "rightfully theirs".
  • Which no one will win so the fighting will continue.

WHAT ARE THE KEY ISSUES THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED?

  • Mutual recognition, borders, security, water rights, control of
  • Jerusalem, Israeli settlement, Palestinian movement for freedom,
  • and legalities concerning refugees. However, control of Jerusalem,
  • water rights and international status are the 3 most important.
