Of Agustus (27 BC-AD 14) to Marcus Aurelius (AD 161–180)

CAESAR AGUSTUS

  • Born 63 BC, Rome, Italy
  • His father was Julius Caesar
  • Became emperor after his father was assassinated.
  • Agustus had begun a civil war
  • Died August 19, 14 AD.
Caesar started a civil war when he crossed his troops across the Rubicon, a shallow river in northeast Italy.

MARCUS AURELIUS

  • Considered one of the Five Good Emperors
  • Born April 26, 121 in Italy
  • Made his son co-ruler
  • Died March 17, 180 AD.

WHY WAS PAX ROMANA MADE?

  • It came after a period of civil war
  • Rome wasn't exactly in peace
  • They were at war with some people
  • By making the Pax Romana it made
  • a type of Renaissance for Rome.

PEACE IN ROME MEANT:

A strong army posted in areas where enemies would cause trouble
