I turned down a presenter stipend for this workshop. I believe in the content and enjoy working with other educators, especially administrators, to help increase digital literacy.
I learned to fly fish by watching a few YouTube videos and then practicing on a stream. I didn't read three books, take a test, and then wait for my certification in the mail.
We will have problems in the session today. Some app won't work right, the internet connection will get hinky, etc. That's OK. We'll work together to figure it out.
ADULTS LEARN BEST WHEN IMMEDIATELY USING WHAT THEY LEARN.
Were you patient when you first got your driver's license? No. You wanted to get out there and drive. We'll learn some skills and then put them to use right away.
THERE WILL BE A VARIETY OF SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE AMONG ADULT LEARNERS.
Someone in here knows the most and someone knows the least. That will vary from task to task we try today. We'll work together to ask and answer good questions. It is your responsibility as an adult learner to ask the questions that you have.
Gilligan Syndrome - feeling stuck because you have very few people to turn to for advice and help.
Sometimes we have "dumb" questions that we don't want to ask our colleagues and supervisors. It's good to develop your PLN to ask those questions to those people.
