PRESENTATION OUTLINE

DIGESTIVE AND URINARY SYSTEMS

BY:ERIC HOFFER

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

  • Starts in the mouth and is mechanically digested
  • Then food slides down the esophagus and is filtered by the epiglottis
  • Food slides down into stomach where most of the chemical digestion happens
  • Then food slides down into the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed
  • Next the food is then moved into the large intestine

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS

  • Absorbing nutrients
  • Removing waste
  • Secretion
  • Taking in food
  • Mixing and moving food through the body

URINARY SYSTEM

  • Kidneys break down liquid and filter nutrients into blood
  • Then urine travels through the ureters into the bladder
  • Bladder stores liquid until its time to come out
  • Liquid waste exits the bladder
  • Liquid waste comes out the urethra

URINARY SYSTEM FUNCTIONS

  • Remove liquid waste from blood
  • Maintain acid balance in body
  • Maintain fluid balance in body
  • Control blood volume
  • Formation of urine

DIGESTIVE + URINARY SYSTEM

  • Both systems work together to remove waste from body
  • Both systems maintain glucose levels with the kidneys, and the liver.
  • Liquid from the intestines travels into the blood and to the kidney to be filtered
