Established Research on Mammograms v. New Study
Not all organizations agree on the same mammogram guidelines, though most places are in agreement about mammograms overall as a diagnostic tool. For instance, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force mammogram guidelines recommend women begin screening at age 50 and repeat the test every two years. The American Cancer Society and other organizations recommend screening begin at 40 and continue annually. At Mayo Clinic, doctors offer mammograms to women beginning at age 40 and continuing annually.
