THE CHINESE CIVIL WAR

TIME FRAME: 1927-1936, 1945-1950

LOCATION: CHINA

THE WAR WAS BETWEEN THE NATIONALIST GOVERNMENT OF CHINA,

OR THE KUOMINTANG (KMT) AND THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA (CPC).

THIS WAR HAPPENED BECAUSE THE RIVALRY BETWEEN

THE TWO PARTIES BECAME A CIVIL WAR.

THIS WAR TOOK PLACE IN CHINA, ALTHOUGH

BOTH SIDES GOT HELP FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.

THIS IS IMPORTANT TO THE COLD WAR BECAUSE THE U.S HELPED

THE KUOMINTANG AND THE CPC GOT HELP FROM THE SOVIET UNION.

THIS IMPACTED THE U.S. AND THE SOVIET UNION BECAUSE THEY

WERE HELPING OPPOSITE SIDES THAT HAPPEN TO BE FIGHTING EACH OTHER.

THE LEADER OF THE KUOMINTANG

WAS CHIANG KAI-SHEK

THE WAR WAS STOPPED FOR A WHILE BECAUSE JAPAN INVADED

CHINA, THE TWO SIDES JOINED TOGETHER TO FIGHT THEM OFF.

THE CPC, OR THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA

WAS LEAD BY MAO ZEDONG.

TODAY BOTH GOVERNMENTS CLAIM TO BEING THE LEGAL GOVERNMENT OF CHINA

OF CHINA, IN SOME WAYS THE CIVIL WAR IS NOT OVER, BUT THERE HASN'T BEEN FIGHTING IN A WHILE.
